The device starts up
It reads the voltage once and sends it to the cloud. A restart after a power cut is the signal that public power is back.
Currently building
Know when public power returns, even when you're away from home.
Get in touchWhat it does
PowerPulse is a small Wi-Fi device that plugs into a public-power (NEPA) outlet. It reports when the device starts up, which tells you public power has probably come back, and it shows the estimated mains voltage. From the app, you can ask the device for a fresh reading at any time.
How it works
It reads the voltage once and sends it to the cloud. A restart after a power cut is the signal that public power is back.
Tap Read now in the app. The request reaches the device over a secure, device-specific channel.
The device replies with its reading, and the app shows the latest value and when it was taken.
What we are careful about
It is not a laboratory-grade or true-RMS measurement.
It doesn't prove the power went out. We say "probably," because a Wi-Fi outage can look the same.
If the device stops responding, we tell you when we last heard from it, and we don't guess the cause.
Where we are
The API, device pairing, read-now requests, and reading history are built and running, with HTTPS.
Commands reach a simulated device through AWS IoT Core, and the reply comes back to the app.
The core logic is written and tested. The full firmware is not finished.
The voltage circuit is not yet validated on hardware. The mobile app and widgets are planned.
